Reasons and Investigation of Excessive Emissions from Bag Dust Collectors

Excessive emissions from bag dust collectors are a common operational fault, which not only fail to meet environmental protection requirements but also indicate potential hidden dangers in equipment performance and structural integrity. The investigation should focus on the filtering system, ash cleaning system, air distribution and equipment sealing.

The primary cause is damage or failure of filter bags. Problems such as bag breakage, burning loss, aging, and detachment from the tube sheet will directly lead to unfiltered dust escaping with the air flow, resulting in a sharp increase in emission concentration. High-temperature flue gas, friction from deformed cages, and poor-quality filter materials are the main reasons for bag damage.

The second reason is poor sealing performance of the dust collector. Loose inspection doors, damaged sealing strips, gaps in the tube sheet, and poorly welded air chambers will cause air leakage and short-circuit of air flow. Dust bypasses the filter bag and is directly discharged, causing continuous excessive emissions.

Thirdly, abnormal ash cleaning system leads to poor ash removal. Insufficient injection pressure, damaged pulse valves, clogged injection pipes, and unreasonable ash cleaning intervals will cause dust to accumulate and harden on the surface of filter bags. The ventilation performance decreases, and dust penetrates the filter layer under pressure, resulting in emission exceeding the standard.

In addition, unreasonable operating parameters are also important incentives. Excessive filtration air speed caused by excessive system air volume will accelerate dust penetration. Low flue temperature leads to condensation, making filter bags sticky and dusty, which seriously reduces filtering efficiency.

When investigating excessive emissions, inspectors should first check the outlet concentration and differential pressure data, then conduct offline inspections of filter bags one by one to confirm breakage or detachment. Check the tightness of the box, inspection door and tube sheet, and troubleshoot the pulse valve, air bag and injection pipeline. At the same time, verify whether the flue gas temperature, air volume and ash cleaning parameters are within the design range, so as to accurately locate the cause and carry out targeted treatment.
