Dust Collector Filter Bag

A dust collector filter bag(also called a dust removal filter bag or baghouse filter bag)is the core filtration component of baghouse dust collectors,designed to capture and separate airborne particulate matter from industrial process air.It is a fabric sleeve/envelope that lets clean air pass through while trapping dust,ensuring workplace safety,environmental compliance,and efficient production.

1.Working Principle

Dust-laden air enters the baghouse and flows through the filter bags.Dust particles are trapped on the outer surface of the bag via four main mechanisms:

Inertial impaction:Large particles(>1μm)collide with fibers.

Interception:Mid-size particles contact fibers as airflow curves.

Diffusion:Sub-micron particles(Brownian motion)adhere to fibers.

Electrostatic attraction:Charged media attracts dust particles.

A thin"dust cake"forms on the bag surface,which improves filtration efficiency for fine particles.Periodic cleaning(pulse-jet,reverse-air,or shaker methods)removes excess dust,restoring performance.Clean air passes through the bag and is discharged or recirculated.

3.Main Types by Cleaning Method

Pulse-Jet Filter Bags:The most common type;dust on the outside,cleaned by high-pressure compressed air blasts.Ideal for dry dust,high airflow applications.

Reverse-Air Filter Bags:Dust on the inside;cleaned by low-pressure reverse airflow.Suitable for large air volumes(wood,metal industries).

Shaker Filter Bags:Dust on the inside;cleaned by mechanical shaking.Used in small,low-cost systems.

Pleated Filter Bags:Higher filtration area(200–300%vs.standard bags);lower pressure drop,longer life.
